It is now recommended to upgrade to the latest build of MacPractice 5.1. This version only works on El Capitan so you will need to ensure your hardware and operating systems are correct. Please check with you hardware supplier to ensure the devices are installed with El Capitan. This is most important as the current version is not certified to run on Sierra. The version for the Sierra operating system is not ready at this point in time.
It is always useful to look at changes you will find in the version you are going to. This can be found in your HELP or feel free to send us an email and we will happily send you the release version help notes.
When upgrading from Version 4 or early version 5, you can expect a relatively long process. The longest we know of took just over 24 hours however this was a huge database. We would estimate 8-12 hours to complete the process on the server. Much of the time, it looks like nothing is happening but it is and you need to let it run its course.
Once the server upgrade is done, you then need to upgrade each of the client devices. This takes about 10 minutes on each device but it can be done concurrently on different clients.
The PMSS tech crew can assist with your upgrade process. However, if you are planning on running upgrades yourself, we strongly recommend emailing us to advise when you are doing the upgrade. The team are here to support you and answer any questions you may have
