Did you know that there are two types of of MacPractice upgrade?

1) A major upgrade – this will upgrade you from (example) Version 4.XXX to Version 5.XXX.These major upgrades can take up to 24 hours, but are more likely to take 8-12 hours to complete.

2) A minor upgrade – this will upgrade you from (example) version 5.0XX to Version 5.1XX, and can take several hours. Another minor upgrade is a patches and fixes upgrades which are small and take far less time than a minor upgrade.

Here at PMSS, we strongly encourage our MacPractice user community to engage with us for any major upgrade. As part of this engagement we would take a back up of your database and test upgrade it prior to installing on your server. This can help to anticipate any potential problems and provide fixes, plus we can give you an indication of upgrade timings.

We recommend doing any upgrades on a Friday night so we can as a minimum monitor the install, and the MacPractice tech support team are available if required.

In any event, please drop us a quick email if you are planning on doing any minor or major upgrades on your system. Please contact us if you have any upgrade enquiries.
